Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps

JROTC at AHS

The Athens High School Golden Eagle Battalion, throughout its more than 50 year history, continues to "Motivating young people to become better citizens". Through a dynamic curriculum, we offer students the opportunity to improve in the following:

1) Leadership

2) Self-Confidence

3) Financial Literacy

3) Time Management

4) Building Relationships (both personal and professional)

5) Organization Skills

6) Career Exploration

7) Public Speaking

JROTC has been very instrumental in some of its cadets receiving full College ROTC scholarships after high school. Others cadets have enlisted in the various military branches. Our remaining cadets pursue higher education at 2 or 4 year colleges, acquire skills-based training, or enter directly into the workforce.

Taking on added responsibility in a leadership position is part of what JROTC is all about. Moving up in JROTC takes three things- desire, time, and work. JROTC will give you the time, but you must have the desire and be willing to put in the work.
