National Spanish Honor Society

Activities:
National Spanish Honor Society (NSHS) is involved with Hispanic Heritage Month, Elementary Spanish Club, assisting other clubs with projects when needed, participates in national contests within the organization as well as volunteering at various organizations within the community. There is a $5.00 fee to join and the Club meets a minimum of once a month depending on the activities that are going on that month.

Academic Requirements:
La Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (The Spanish National Honor Society)
Membership in La Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica is an honor that recognizes outstanding achievement in Spanish and dedication to Hispanic culture. Eligible members will receive a cord to wear at graduation, symbolizing their commitment and academic excellence in world language studies.
To be considered for membership, students must:
• Successfully complete at least three levels of Spanish with an overall Spanish average of 90 or above.
• Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3.
• Be an active member of Spanish Club, demonstrating a commitment to promoting and supporting continued learning about Spanish language and culture.
• Exhibit good character, leadership, and a strong sense of responsibility within the school and community.
* Students enrolled in Advanced Placement Spanish may qualify with a minimum GPA of 3.0, due to the increased academic rigor of the course.

Mission Statement:
NSHS proposes to promote awareness, appreciation, and understanding of the people and diverse cultural productions of the Hispanic/Latino world. It also proposes to contribute and encourage the study and appreciation of the Spanish language.
Lastly, it proposes to foster friendly relations with other Athens clubs and organizations, as well as the community, volunteering and working to better understand diversity through cultural awareness.

The Club will meet during Connect on 9/19, 10/31, 11/21, 1/30, 2/27, 4/10, and 4/24 during the 2025-26 School Year.
